The executive Chairman of Abeokuta South local government, Hon Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi has appealed to the youths to shun cultism and ritual making to get money.
This, he said, will lead them to nowhere while speaking with Amebo Newspaper NG correspondent, Solanke Ayomideji Taiwo in his office.
According to him, the youths engaging in cultism should leave and face their studies or go for vocational training to enable them be useful for themselves in the nearest future.
He called on the parents to monitor their wards and ensure their proper upbringing.
He lauded the staff of local government for their efforts since his emergence as the elected chairman of the council, and maintaining the high standard laid by the predecessors.
Majekodunmi urged police authorities and other relevant security agencies to intensify efforts to sensitise youths on the need to stay away from criminal tendencies including cultism, hooliganism, thuggery and internet scam known as Yahoo-Yahoo.
He maintained that students who perpetrated crime on the pretext of cultism and internet fraud should be prosecuted and that any member of cult group who renounces cultism sincerely and repents genuinely should be rehabilitated and reintegrated rather than expelling such students from school.
He reiterated his commitment towards maintaining peaceful environment for the residents of Abeokuta South in support of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun mission to wipe off criminals out of Ogun State.
