There was a massive crowd and security on Thursday afternoon when All Progressives Congress (APC) national stalwart, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu visited the Palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
He was received by the Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola and his wife, Kafayat.
Part of the major highlights of the day was a powerful welcome address delivered by Hon. Rotimi Makinde, an illustrious son of Ife and former member of the House of Representatives in the 7th Assembly.
In his speech, the elated Makinde noted that he “feels fulfilled and rewarded” and that his dream and the dreams of South-West Agenda members who have been courageously going round the region and calling for unity is significantly yielding positive fruits in the larger interest of Nigerians.
“Today, I witness the beginning of a new beginning in Yoruba land, a new era and the birth of unity. I would love to see us guided by history and to avoid repeating ourselves in all those happenings that set our Kingsland indeed this nation backward.
With Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are good to go. I thank the Ooni of Ile Ife, I thank the leadership of Sen Dayo Adeyeye and all of us who are committed in this struggle.” Makinde stated
Barely two weeks ago, Asiwaju Tinubu extended similar visits to the palaces of Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland; Sikiru Adetona, Awujale of Ijebuland; and Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro and ruler of Yewaland.
According to him, he visited the traditional rulers to inform them of his decision to contest the presidency in 2023.
