The 2021 edition of the Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun Foundation football tournament will start on October 3 after the 24 participating teams were drawn into six groups of four.
According to the press statement signed by Taiye Taiwo, Media Aide to Chief Olumide Aderinokun, The draw event held in Ifo, threw up a string of fascinating ties and it had the Co-founder of the foundation, Chief Olumide Aderinokun in attendance alongside key figures in Ogun State football sector including representatives of Ogun State Football Association, representatives of the Refereee Association amongst others.
Interestingly, the football academy of former Nigeria international Segun Odegbami are also set to jostle for the top prize which is for Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas in Ogun Central Senatorial District.
In Group A, Onyx FC, Daleko FC, Patoko All Stars and Abatan FC will battle for to advance to the next round while Santos FC, Bavis FA, Concord FA and Ilepa United FC are pitched in Group B.
Ewekoro United will hope to navigate their way past Chosen Generation FC, Ajax FC and Alaja FC in Group C.
Group D features Segun Odegbami Academy, Ultimate FC, Eruku FC and All Stars FC while Onikoko FC, Evolution FC, Dynamite FC and Grassroot FA are in Group E.
Isheri Olofin FC, Amazing FC, Olofin FC and S.P Football Academy.
The games will start with Onyx FC taking on Daleko FC at the N.U.D Primary School, Ifo by 3pm on Sunday.
In his remarks at the draw event, Chief Olumide Aderinokun encouraged the players to enjoy their time on the pitch after boosting their morale with his promise.
"I promise you this competition will not be a one-time tournament, it has come to stay for years to come," Chief Aderinokun said.
"We have talents especially in Ogun State but we don't have stars. Scouts will be present in some games and in encouraging the players, I will give all the 24 participating teams 50,000 naira each.
"One of the purposes of this football tournament is for the youths to have fun and relax because there are lot of things going in the country that are stressful. While you compete for the cup, remember you are having fun."
