....One of us has Returned --- ABSLG Workers

There was a wild jubilation in Abeokuta South Local Government Council Secretariat, Ake yesterday following the resumption of Hon. Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi to office as the Executive Chairman of the council shortly after Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun inaugurated the twenty local government chairmen at Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.

According to statement signed by Ogbeni Akano Yaya Kayode (AYK) For the Executive Chairman, Abeokuta South Local Government, The ever loving, joyous and enthusiastic workers of the premier Local Government, Abeokuta South rously welcomed the Chairman to the Council.

After excitement expressed by the management/staff, HOAM political family and well wishers, the man of the moment took to the microphone to address the joyous crowd.

In his address, Hon. Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi, JP recounted his days as a civil servant at the Local Government and how he contested and lost the NULGE Chairmanship Election 12 years ago. "I contested for the NULGE Chairmanship 12 years ago, but today, I became the Executive Chairman of the first Local Government Council in Ogun State. Isn't God wonderful?" He said.

Majekodunmi, who obviously felt the pain of the workers, having been part of them during his sojourn at the Local Government Service,  "I knows where the shoe pinches the most. It is in the backdrop of this that I promise to prioritise workers welfare and assured you all of drastic changes in the status quo, saying it won't be business as usual anymore."

He was instantly decorated with NULGE cap; an indication that he used to be one of them.

Thereafter, he swung into action immediately, assessing the entire premises meticulously from buildings to buildings, offices to offices, Rest Rooms, the furnitures, Electronics gadgets and appliances down to office work tools.

He reckoned that a lot of things needs to be changed, renovated and upgraded, especially the Vice Chairman's office, staff rest rooms and the Legislative Chamber, not leaving out the premises of the Council Secretariat, which requires a face lift.

The Chairman ensured that, the assessment exercise wasn't just a show for the camera, he took an engineer round with his team to note every dilapidated asset of the Council for immediate repairs, renovation and upgrade.

There was some astonishment as to why the Chairman was never tired of conducting a detailed assessment of the entire Local Government Council Secretariat and wondered how he could manage to assess every rest rooms, in spite of their conditions, but Hon. Majekodunmi seemed to already know what he wanted and what his dream of a better Local Government Council Secretariat should look like. Hence, the reason for his motivation.

It was after then, he settled in his office, had a meeting with the Councillors - Elect and attended to pending files on his table alongside his Vice Chairman, Hon. Surveyor Iretiolu Sotayo.
