Black Lives Matter co-founder buys N533 million ($1.4m) home in virtually all-white neighborhood

Co-founder of Black Lives Matter (BLM), Patrisse Khan-Cullors has acquired a $1.4 million home in Los Angeles, California.

According to reports, her new home is located in a virtually all-white neighborhood which led to her being called out on social media. The neighborhood has less than 2% of black population.

On Wednesday, dirt.com reported, “A secluded mini-compound tucked into L.A.’s rustic and semi-remote Topanga Canyon was recently sold for a tad more than $1.4 million to a corporate entity that public records show is controlled by Patrisse Khan-Cullors, 37-year-old social justice visionary and co-founder of the galvanizing and, for some, controversial Black Lives Matter movement.”

Her new property takes up a quarter of an acre and includes multiple buildings. One of the houses includes three bedrooms and a bathroom, while another separate building, a guest house, includes one bedroom and one bathroom as a residence for visitors.

Khan-Cullor, 37, is the creator of the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag, which she first started in 2013 following the killing of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman.

The BLM movement became more global during the worldwide protests that followed the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police in the summer of 2020.

The organization revealed it raised $90 million in donations in last year.
