The Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, LASPPPA, has concluded the training of its District Officers and other related staff in the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones) for more effective coverage of the physical layouts of Lagos State for maximum monitoring and enforcement, ensuring developments in the State conform to Physical Planning Laws and align with the Master Plan of the Lagos Community.
According to the General Manager, LASPPPA, Tpl Funmi Osifuye, the training and adoption of the device is to match the technological demands of a Smart City status of Lagos State and take advantage of technology for optimum surveillance for improved and accelerated work performance of Town Planners in the State.
Osifuye urged participants at the training to take the utmost advantage of the training to enhance their knowledge base and contributions to orderly planning and enforcement of physical planning laws in the State.
His words: “With this surveillance drone, physical developments in Lagos State will be adequately monitored for conformity with the original Master Plan and layout of communities in the State, thereby curbing the incidents of building collapse and its attendant human and material losses”.
"Wider and more effective surveillance and enforcement of planning permit laws will allow the government put her resources into more resourceful use, instead of incurring the cost of demolition of non-conforming structures and providing relief for victims of collapsed building", Osifuye said.
