Committed to ensuring orderliness and sanity in the transportation sector in the State, Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Transportation has engaged the leadership teams of the State Ministry of Transportation as well as Parks and Garages Development Agency (PAGADA) with a challenge to the Ministry to take full control of the activities in the sector.
The Committee led by its Chairman, Oludaisi Elemide during the interactive session which had the State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo, the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Mrs Olusola Osasona, General Manager, PAGADA, Sesan Asenuga and the Chairman of the Agency, Hon. Abiodun Ajayi, directed PAGADA to as a matter of law, operate under the supervision of the Ministry.
Elemide in company of other lawmakers directed that appropriate sanction must be carried out to erring officer, who violated the directives of the Ministry on the purported inauguration of Riders and Owners of Tricycle Organization (ROTO) in the State recently which the Assembly had declared illegal.
According to Elemide, "ROTO can only exist as an association owing to the freedom of association spelt out by the nation's constitution but not as revenue collecting agent until otherwise stated".
He further directed Mr. Asenuga to tender an apology letter to the Assembly for his failure to honour the invitations earlier extended to him, adding that the Assembly would review the PAGADA Law for efficiency and effectiveness.
