OGSG Organizes 2-Days Training For Fish Farmers

OGUN STATE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE TRAINS IKANGBA- AGORO YOUTH FISH FARM CLUSTER IN IJEBU ZONE, ODOGBOLU LOCAL GOVERNMENT ON AQUACULTURE VALUE CHAIN OPPORTUNITIES


As part of ongoing support to Food and Processing locations, Ogun State Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, has commenced a two-day training programme for members of Ikangba Youth Fish Cluster, at Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State from Thursday, 25th to Friday 26th February, 2021.

The 2-day training programme, which commenced today, with the training of Youth Farmers at Ikangba, will continue tomorrow, with a shared learning visit by trainees to Fish Feed Mill at Obasanjo Farms, Adigbe.

The training is aimed at linking the trainees to various aquaculture value chain opportunities and Technology, including feed mill, fish processing as well as  marketing, to enhance productivity and livelihoods of fish farmers.

Declaring the training open, the  Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Adeola Odedina noted that Ikangba Fish Farm Cluster were the first beneficiaries of this training programme, which was approved by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR. The training programme will be extended to other fish farm clusters and youths in the Aquaculture Value chain in Ogun State.

Others in attendance were, the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Dotun Sorunke; Director of Fisheries Services, Mrs Ojelade; Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, Hon. Tolu Bankole; Training Facilitator, Mr Mulero Muibi and others.
