The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Area 1 Command, says contraband goods with duty paid value of over # 2.3 billion were intercepted at illegal entry points across birder communities in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria
This was disclosed by the Area Comptroller of Customs, Peter Kolo during a press briefing held in Idiroko border while highlighting the activities of the command for the year 2020 fiscal year
The items seized include prohibited drugs, 79 trailers of banned imported rice,512 vehicles, vegetable oil, petroleum products,1,382 cartons of frozen poultry products,21 bails of second-hand clothing.
He said that effective community engagement and management remain the panaceas to reducing economic sabotage in the country.
He maintained that the current incessant attacks on men and officers will not deter them from performing their constitutional responsibility of enforcing compliance with government fiscal policies at the borders.
