Giwa Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu (Kuye), Giwa Alhaji Suraju Adebayo Lasisi led the members of his Age-group, Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu (Kuye) to Awa Ijebu on Saturday, 5th December, 2020 for the celebration of this year Awa Ijebu Day in honour of Aare Egbe, Aare Francis Adewale Adeoye.
Aare Engr. Francis Adewale Adeoye, is a Nigeria Premier University trained Engineer and Expertise in Petroleum & Oil Industry, and currently working with the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd, Port Harcour as Technical Safety Engineer (TSE), is the Aare Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu "Kuye", and the Giwa Egbe Obayori Okunrin Ati Obirin Awa-Ijebu. Aare Francis was the Chairman, 2020 Edition of Awa Ijebu Day Celebration.
At the occasion, in his address, the Kabiesi, HRH, Oba Abeeb Awobajo, the Limeri of Awa-Ijebu, sincerely thank the Governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for being there for the community always. The Kabiesi said, "we are very grateful for the support we received from Ogun State Government in roofing this Awa Civic Center.
The monarch shown appreciation to his subjects. He said, "To my great people of Awa-Ijebu, I thank you all for putting smiles on my face all the time. The emergence of socio cultural age grades , Regberegbes in our town, has invoked a new vision in our people; to this we are thankful to God.
The monarch therefore urge the members of Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu (Kuye) and all Regberegbes in Akile Ijebu to take the development of Ijebu Nation as their priority. He therefore commended Giwa Azury led Obayori Age-group for felicitating and celebrating with them on her 20th Awa Ijebu Day Celebrations. The monarch prayed for all sons and daughters of Awa-Ijebu at home and in diaspora.
While paying homage to the Kabiesi, Alaiyeluwa Oba Abib A. Awobajo JP., the Limeri of Awa-Ijebu, members of Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu (Kuye) led by Giwa Alhaji Suraju Adebayo Lasisi joined their counterpart, members of Egbe Obayori Okunrin Ati Obirin Awa-Ijebu, led by Aare Francis Adewale Adeoye.
Other Age-group that payed homage to the Kabiesi were, Egbe Bobagbuyi Awa-Ijebu (1941--1943) led by Giwa Otunba Wale Ogunneye; Egbe Obaleke Awa-Ijebu (1944--1946), led by Giwa Chief Sode Ogunsipe; Egbe Bobajolu Awa-Ijebu (1947--1949), led by Giwa Chief Muda Olonlegun; Egbe Obafuwaji Awa-Ijebu (1950--1952), led by Giwa Mathias Okuneye-Are; Egbe Bobagbimo Awa-Ijebu (1953--1955), led by Giwa Otunba Maba Ogunbanjo; Egbe Bobakeye Awa-Ijebu (1956--1958), led by Giwa Chief Abiodun Ojobaro.
Others include, Egbe Bobagunte Awa-Ijebu (1959--1961), led by Giwa Chief A.A.A Tiriba; Egbe Gbobaniyi (Asiwaju) (1962--1964), led by Giwa Adetayo Okunola; Egbe Gbobaniyi (Unique) Awa-Ijebu (1962-1964), led by Giwa Dayo Idowu; Egbe Jagunmolu Awa-Ijebu (1965--1967); led by Giwa Chief Femi Ogunlade; Egbe Arobayo Awa-Ijebu (1968--1970), led by Giwa Debola Abolaji.
Egbe Tobalase Awa-Ijebu (1971--1973), led by Giwa Chief Tayo Adeyemi; Egbe Bobameigun Awa-Ijebu (1974--1976) led by Sir Felix Adeoye-Are and many other traditional groups.
Special guests of honour present at the occasion were the Royal Father of the occasion, HRH Oba Victor Taiwo Thomas-Fagbayi,Adeyombo lI, Onitigbo of Tigbo-Ilu Ogun state; representative of the Ogun state government, Hon. Dare Maba Kadiri, the Deputy Speaker Ogun State House of Assembly; Prof. Oluwole Sikiru Banjo, Ag. Vice Chancellor TASUED, Ijebu Ode; Hon. J.F Adegbesan, former Member, OGHA; Giwa Alhaji Suraju Adebayo Lasisi; Gbobaniyi Fatai Olatunji Balogun, the Olu-Omo of Ipakodo Kingdom, Ikorodu, Lagos; Brigadier Gen. Bamidele Taiwo; Otunba Aderonke Oduneye, the Iyaloja of Ago-Iwoye; Iyaloja of Ijebuland among other dignitaries.
