An officer of So-Safe designated to the Oke-Ore, Ado-Odo Otta Local Government of Ogun State has been nabbed for burgling an electronic shop and thirty others in that axis.
In an account given by the owner of the electronic shop, one Mr. Dayo Aina, the first operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, 13th October, 2020, with gadgets such as a 32inches LCD TV, Generator, others and other some cash carted away.
He lamented that after all the loss he was left to bear with; the robbery gang again stormed his shop on the 20th of October and made away with new items he has just stocked the shop with.
Aina explained that all came to light on the faithful day when he was passing by a generator repair workshop in that axis, where he noticed the generator stolen in the first operation and decided to engage the engineer, who with much probing confessed to have received it for servicing from a So-Safe Corp by the name Phillip Samuel.
To further establish the truth, the victim and other members of his family besieged Phillip Samuel’s apartment where other electronics were seen displayed in his living room.
The only explanation Samuel could give was that those gadgets were seized from robbers by him. On discovering that the explanation was not tenable enough, the victim and other members of his family requested to meet with his superior, shockingly, other electronics carted away were also presently underuse in his office too.
Samuel however, made it clear that his boss Luqman Adebesin who he reported and presented the exhibits to allowed him to take some of it home, stating that no one came around to lay claim on them.
Aina further explained that the monarch of the area was informed of the event, who later led them to the police station, at the police station after a thorough investigation, it was revealed that Samuel have another accomplice, Yekini Bello, a tipper driver from Ikorodu.
In his own account, Bello shared that Samuel was once a hardened criminal and robber who had been nabbed and disgraced out of Ikorodu for his various criminal acts. He further said that he and Samuel used to live together in Ikorodu and that it was Samuel who contacted him to come around that he has gotten a better job for him.
Bello also hinted that another accomplice at large is Samuel’s sister who helps to keep all stolen goods from their operations.
However, Aina and the rest of the community are not comfortable with the way the issue has been handled, problem started when it was discovered that the other member of the gang was released without any explanation.
Again, they pointed out that Samuel’s superior has been working freely since the event was reported. It was even mentioned that the Police Area Commander, Agbara area Command, Bolanle Muritala said that proper investigation will be conducted and be reported to the appropriate quarters, as his command is not ready to take up the case.
Also it was reported that the stolen goods after discovered at the culprit’s homes and offices were shipped to the station in the guise of submitting exhibits intercepted from other robbery operation.
However, after so much digging from our end, it was established by our reporters that Luqman Adebesin had once been paraded for possession of arms and ammunition, and impersonation as a police officer at the state police headquater, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
According to chat made on whatsapp with the So-Safe Commander, Soji Ganzallo, to confirm his official status, he noted that Luqman Adebesin is indeed a So-Safe officer.
It was also reported that about 30 cases of burgling in the Oke-Ore axis within that period has been reported to the Agbara Police Command with no tangible response or result so far.
Interestingly, no case of burgling has been experienced or reported since the arrest of Phillip Samuel has been made.
