The Chairman, Transition Committee,Abeokuta South Local Government,Hon.Ayodeji Michael Shomide has vowed to empower youths in Abeokuta South Local Government Area.
Hon.Shomide made this known during his visit with the management of Abeokuta South Local Government to 20 hectares of land acquired for agricultural purposes at Akingbasa village,Odeda local government.
According to the number one citizen of Abeokuta South local government 'my administration is ready to empower youths who are interested in agricultures' he further said that ,the land would be cleared,plowed and ready for cultivation soonest.
After which, the interested youths will get his/her own portion for farming with a view to collaborate with commercial agricultural practitioners,Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN) and other government financial agencies so as to fund the programme.
Similarly,on their way back from the farm site,the team visited the council's poultry farm at Asero with the intention of rearing broilers towards Christmas season,which will provide poultry meat and also generate revenue for the local government.
In the team were:, the Secretary to the local government, Alh.Nurudeen Ayorinde,Supervisor for Information & Agricultural Services, Hon. Wale Bakare, other 2 Supervisors Hon Togunwa Raji & Hon Moroof Badmos, the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs.Bukola Adeniregun, Internal Auditor the Director of Agric and his Assistant.
