The influence of former governor of Lagos state historically limited to a single term, Akinwunmi Ambode in the affairs of Lagos state is far from over.

One of his die-hard supporters just installed the top man at the state chapter of transport union body, National Union of Road Transport Workers.

Outgoing State chairman Tajudeen Agbede just ‘’engineered’’ the emergence of Michael Odugunle popularly known as Baba Ajilo as his successor.

This development is at the expense of Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo), one of the favorite street muscles of powerful politician Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Oluomo was a leading contender for the position of state Chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the NURTW until the shock move by Agbede, who is a strong supporter of Ambode.

Though it is not clear whether Ambode is in any way involved, but what is apparent is that having supporters in charge of a such a strong union is a major point for him.

Agbede and Oluomo have been at each other for a while over the NURTW chairmanship position.

The transport union bosses contested against each other before Agbede became chairman and they have been at opposing the end of the stick since then, with Agbede using Kunle Poly (Kunle Azeez) to undermine the influences of Oluomo as Treasurer.

‘’And it appears Agbede would have the last laugh in the fight with the manner he has engineered the emergence of Baba Ajilo as chairman’’ a source stated.

Ajilo’s emergence as state chairman – two days ago – is said to be without the laid down rules of the NURTW guiding the election of principal officers.

Oluomo and his crew are said to be kicking against the development while Agbede who leaves office in a couple of days time is sticking to his gun and negotiating deals with key players within the Lagos NURTW and beyond to ensure his decision stands.
