Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, met his US counterpart Mike Pence in the White House in Washington DC Wednesday afternoon.
The Vice President left Nigeria Saturday for a 4-day visit to engage Pence on matters of mutual interests to Nigeria and the United States.
According to the Professor of Law in an interview he granted immedately afterwards, foreign investment in Nigeria, arms and ammunitions acquisition to aid the fight against terrorism, took pride of place on the meeting agenda.
Channels TV reported him as saying the meeting also consolidated on previous talks and how the two countries can work together on the threats to the Sahel region.
“We discussed a wide range of issues from our economy and ways in which investors could participate effectively in the economy. We also talked about security. Ways in which we could work together on some of the threats, especially in the Sahel.
“What we are working on at the moment is cooperation that has been on for a while so the whole point of it is to see how to bring several of those things to fruition.
“We discussed cooperation on the supply of arms and ammunition which the US has worked with us on and we think we are moving in the right direction. They are happy to work with us on it,” Osinbajo said.
