Chief Charles Idahosa, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo state, has said the National Chairman of the party and former Governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole, should be blamed for the crisis in the state House of Assembly.
According to Idahosa, Oshiomhole’s continued silence on the alleged rift with Governor Godwin Obaseki was responsible for some lawmakers-elect to dare the state working committee of the APC.
The APC chieftain described the situation as a tragic-comedy where the people are happy with Obaseki but those that brought him to power want the governor out of power.
Governor Obaseki had on Sunday, June 9, said there was no disagreement between him and his predecessor, Oshiomhole, describing the reported disagreement as fake news.
Obaseki, who made this known while speaking about his second term bid, said whether he gets a second term in office or not depends entirely on God and the people of Edo state.
He said: “There is no infraction between me and the national chairman of the party. It is all in the press. It is all fake news.
"My second term is left to God and the people of Edo state. At the end of the day, the people will decide depending on how much they see that we have added value to their lives.
“As you know, we are the only APC state in the entire south south and the southeast. So, we want to be flag bearer for what APC should represent as a party."
According to the governor, his main objective is ensure that government serves as an enabler and also ensure economic growth by building production centres and industrial parks.
He said his government has been improving the business climate in the state for people to be able to do business with ease.
