Former House of Representatives member representing Ife Federal Constituency, Hon Rotimi Makinde, has congratulated all the newly-inaugurated members of the seventh Osun State House of Assembly in general and the principal members in particular.
The new House led by the Speaker, Honourable Timothy Owoeye, was inaugurated earlier today with pomp and pageantry in the hallowed chamber of House of Assembly.
Makinde in a statement issued by him this afternoon advised the newly-sworn-in members and principal officers of the House to work in unison with a view to giving quality legislative duties to the people of the state.
The former member of the National Assembly said he would be failing in his duty if he refuses to chip in a piece of advice that could be beneficial to the smooth-running of the Assembly.
Makinde counselled the new assembly members not to allow any crack in the discharge of their legislative duties in the interest of harmonious working relarionships.
The Ile-Ife-born ex-lawmaker said it is important for them to settle down to business as their four-year tenure would soon be like a flash of light.
He advised the new Speaker to learn from the style of of the immediate past Speaker of the House, the Right Hon Najeem Salam who successfully piloted the aircraft of the House for eight solid years.
In Makinde's words: "Immediately the new Speaker sees himself as first among equals among the other members, he won't have any iota of problem.
"Once again, I congratulate you all. May your tenure witness and be an harbinger of good tidings to the State of the Virtuous", he said.
Among the list of other principal officers are: Hon Femi Popoola, Deputy speaker; Hon Larry Jay, Majority Leader; Hon Kunle Akande, Deputy Majority Leader and Hon Lekan Olatunji, Chip Whip.
