'I Have No Personal Hatred For Buhari, But His Advisers Will Not Tell Him The Truth- Dr. Osifo Perturbs

A University teacher and farmer, Dr.Isaiah Osifo, on Thursday said the present government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is disruptive and a potent danger to the unity of Nigeria.

The don in a statement, lamented that advisers of the president do not tell him the truth, while sycophants trivialize important issues.

His words, “I watched the television and listened to the press conference by Nigeria’s acting Inspector-General of police, IGP, in respect of the killings in Zamfara state. I felt strongly disturbed, genuinely frightened and perceived real threat to unity of my dear country, Nigeria, from the following observations.”

“A press conference in respect of national security, addressed by the acting inspector-general of IGP -North, attended by the Chief of Staff to the President-North, Director-General of DSS-North and Director-General of NIIA-North.

“A reasonable government ought to have been sensitive to such open display of tribalism on national telivision and should have included some of their deputies if any from other zones of the country.

“I am a strong believer of a strong and united Nigeria, President Buhari is not the first president from Northern Nigeria. I equally believe that it is not the character of Northern leaders to divide Nigeria. The present government under the leadership of president Buhari is divisive and a real threat to the unity of Nigeria,” he said.

Dr Osifo asserted, “The advisers of the president will not tell him the truth, the sycophants and job seekers from Buhari will trivialize it or insult the observers of such national anomaly because their interest is what they can get for themselves or satisfy their partisan ego.”

“I am not a tribalist and this can be confirmed from a long list of my close friends from the northern Nigeria, I have no personal hatred for President Buhari and this can equally be confirmed from my academic paper, “The Military and Democracy in Nigeria”, written in 1991.

“However, I cannot hide my disappointment with the present government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Buhari.

The government lacks positive public policy, morality and careless about rule of law and social immortality. The growth of a nation is not only by politics, but with a combination of the core ingredients of sociology and citizenship individual psychology,” he stated.

The educator said, “The acting inspector-general of police announced the suspension of mining in Zamfara state. The curious aspects of this directive are troubling for the following reasons: Are these miners licenced by the government of Nigeria? If they are licenced, does the IGP have right to disband them? If they are not licenced, how were the miners, including foreigners are exploring and appropriating the natural resources of Nigeria without documentation?

“If the mining and revenues are documented, what is the monthly or annual total revenue to the Federation Account? “The government that is singing anti-corruption and the president that has assumed the title of integrity should explain these developments to Nigerians.

He should convince the country that these acts of dominating the leadership of the national security agencies by people from one section of the country and not disclosing natural sources of national revenue from a section of the country can be reconciled with any definition of credibility, and are not threats to the unity of Nigeria,” he added.
