The newly-sworn-in members of the Osun State House of Assembly has received an assurance of support from the leadership of the party in the state to make them accomplish their legislative goal, vision and mission.
The state Chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famodun, who stated this shortly after the inauguration of the 26-member House of Assembly in the state yesterday in Osogbo said, the doors of the party's leadership in the state are widely open for them to excel politically.
According to a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Mr Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo yesterday, Famodun stated that he was not unaware of some privileges that eluded the immediate-past House of Assembly, adding that he is categorically sure that attention for their welfare would, this time, take a different and positive turn for further effective discharge of their statutory duties.
The state chairman who congratulated the inaugurated members of the Seventh Assembly implored them to move fast and settle down to business as time waits for no man.
He said, an act of legislation is a continuum, tasking them to urgently come up with laws that would be beneficial to the highest percentage of the people of the state.
Famodun also counselled the new lawmakers to borrow a leaf from the leadership of the last assembly led by Dr Najeem Salaam, which was not for once, rancorous throughout its eight-year tenure.
He opined that the first function of any House of Assembly should be stability of government, adding that it would be pretty difficult to forget the the feat performed by the last Assembly in this regard.
Famodun also advised the new lawmakers led by the Speaker, Hon Timothy Owoeye, not for any reason, detach themselves from the people of their various constituencies, saying, "it's in the interest of your future political aspirations and fortune of our party that it's imperative for you to attend ward, local and senatorial meetings".
The APC state chairman implored the three opposition members of the Peoples Democratic Party's(PDP) extraction in the House not to be unnecessarily antagonistic to the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
He charged the opposition members to prioritise what would benefit their constituents instead of championing any needless attack on the governor and his administration.
The other newly-sworn-in principal officers of the House are Hon Femi Popoola, Deputy speaker; Hon Larry Jay, Majority Leader; Hon Kunle Akande, Deputy Majority Leader; Hon Tunde Lekan Olatunji, Chief Whip and Hon Abidemi Gbenga Ogunkanmi, Deputy Chief Whip.
Others are Hon Ibirogba Babatunde, West Senatorial Leader; Hon Babatunde Festus Komolafe, East Senatorial Leader and Hon Babatunde Olateju Nasirudeen, Central Senatorial Leader.
