A woman who is alleged to have posed as an official at the Lagos State Governor's Office to secure visas from the Italian Embassy for some civilians has been apprehended.
Gboyega Akosile, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's Deputy Chief Press Secretary avowed on Monday how the suspect, via an e-mail sent to the Embassy of Italy in Lagos, pretended to be an official of Lagos State government and sought the country’s visas for some unsuspecting Nigerians.
Akosile explained that the embassy nonetheless, wrote to the Governor’s Office to authenticate the claims, which were effectively found to be false.
She has since been picked up and subjected to interrogation even though she denied any wrongdoing, saying her email was hacked.
Accordingly, the Governor's Officer has issue stern warning to members of the public not to associate or deal with any persons who parade themselves as government representatives in consular matters.
