In its readiness to increase food production and create job opportunities, the Ogun State government has disclosed its readiness to exploit and develop all agricultural sectors in the State.
The State Head of Service, Engr. Olanrewaju Bisiriyu, made this known while speaking at the inauguration and induction ceremony of members of National Association of Livestock Husbandry, Scientist and Technologist of Nigeria, (NALHSATON), Ogun State Chapter held in Abeokuta.
Engr. Bisiriyu, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mrs. Modupe Abosede, said agricultural sector remains the power house of food production, and that government would not neglect the sector, so as to boost food production and also create jobs for the people, adding that the welfare of its workforce, being the driving forces of all government policies would also not be abandoned.
He appreciated the efforts of the National Leaders of the Association for the successful inauguration of Ogun State Chapter, after over twenty five years of its existence, enjoining livestock farmers in the State to take full advantage of the Association, as it would help boost protein production, which the country was yet to meet up with, according to the United Nations’ target of protein consumption.
The National President, NALHSATON, Mr. Ade Ologiledoye, in his remark on the improvement of the consumption of protein in Nigeria, noted that, “the Association has been emphasising and sensitising the public to eat one egg per day, saying ‘’it is good for our health’’.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Director of Livestock Services in the Ministry, Mr. Emmanuel Oluseye Adeosun who stated that NALHSATON is the umbrella body of livestock professionals, technologists and all other workers in the livestock industry, affirmed that the association is saddled with the responsibility of providing common forum for discussing issues that affects livestock production in Nigeria.
While welcoming the HoS, the Permanent Secretary and other Officials to the event, Mr. Adeosun reassured the State Government that the Association will improve the delivery of livestock husbandry services in the State.
