5 Nigerian Artistes That Have Experimented With Drugs

Being a celebrity has its downsides. It is that side, that the media often neglects to show, the one that the celebrity doesn't show their fans.

The stress, the demands, and the pressure.

The pressure of always being in the limelight can be overwhelming and it doesn't get easier with trying to fulfill everyone's expectations.

Fans asking for autographs, entitled fans telling you how to live your life and the media constantly spinning untruth and rumors for clicks.

It's no surprise that most Nigerian artistes often crack and lose their original inspiration.

Sometimes, they assume that the only way for them to get motivated is by experimenting with several drugs that can enhance their performance.

Other times they just want the occasional high that helps them get through the day, a show, pressure, and they are hooked and become addicted.

Here are 5 of such Nigerian artistes that have experimented with drugs before.

1. Terry G

Terry G, the talented "Akpako master" used to play for the church and known for his exceptional keyboard skills. However, he is also known to use cocaine.

Terry G allegedly got into it after an unnamed actress introduced him to it. How that has affected his career is a story for another day.

2. Majek Fashek

Majek Fashek's story is truly sad.

The Send Down The Rain crooner career skyrocketed in the early 90s and even got him global recognition. Sadly it was interrupted by drug and alcohol addiction.

Majek came out in June 2017 to say that he is no longer interested in using drugs although the guy is a shadow of who we knew him to be.

3. Wizkid

Wizkid doesn't do well to hide his drug abuse.

Nigeria's favorite kid smokes Marijuana and has even posted pictures of him enjoying his hit. He doesn't care what anyone thinks about it and has no intention of stopping.

We are worried about Wizkid it will be sad if he loses his thriving career to drug abuse.

4. Burna Boy

Burna boy is very enthusiastic about his drug use. He even released a song titled "Weed".

He too does drugs or "weed" as he likes to emphasize on. According to him, weed is not a drug.

For his sake, we hope he is right, but he isn't.

5. Olamide

Olamide's popular song, Science Student was banned after the government correctly called it out for its tendency to promote drug abuse, amongst student.

His other song Wo was also banned as a result. Olamide abuses drugs perhaps more than he abuses women in his musical and videos.
