Pharaoh of Egypt arrives Asaba ahead of AFCON 2019



Ahead of Tuesday’s International friendly match with the Super Eagles, the Pharaohs of Egypt have arrived Asaba, Delta state.

A 50- man team of the Egyptian National team on Sunday breezed into the country and proceeded to the Golden Tulip Hotel Camp.

The game, billed to hold at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, is part of preparations for both sides ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“We play always to win. We try to do our best.For us it is an important because Nigeria is a very tough team. It is important because it is our last match before the tournament for our young players,” said Assistant coach of the team, Tito Garcia Sanjvan, as cited by The Nation.

The country’s biggest star Mohamed Salah will however not participate in the game.

The Super Eagles ended their 2019 AFCON qualifying campaign on a positive note following a 3-1 win against Seychelles at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Friday.

Egypt ended their qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Niger Republic over the weekend.

The last time Egypt faced Nigeria away from home was in the qualifiers of the 2017 edition of the AFCON.

The Pharaohs managed to secure a last-gasp draw following a Mohamed Salah strike to go on and beat Nigeria 1-0 in Alexandria and qualify to the 2017 AFCON.
