By Hon Rotimi Makinde.
The hard things we pass through ultimately build us up and change our lives. They make the difference between existing and living, between knowing the path and walking it, between a lifetime of empty promises and one filled with progress, value and fulfillment...We are Africans, we are one progressive camp and one political party that mostly learn in hard way,we sleep too far and most times care less about power and its intrigues.
Perhaps my artistic mind was oversimplifying some necessary complexities. Lessons learned are often forgotten in politics I suppose. But, I’ve still not forgotten the significance of the then Bye election that produced Senator Demola Adeleke. The failure of that election geared us to be better prepared for the guber election of 2018,lesson learned, the closeness of that election results geared us to approach the ordered rerun with all it deserved when indeed if we had been more commited, united, and avoid grievances with every sinew in us ,we wouldn't have engaged in unnecessary rerun with the contender who knows us well .
Fast forward to today,we had a good start, the new governor was definitely incomparable,a great manager of resources and an administrator per excellence. He remained busy in governance while many of us relaxed our enthusiasm to monitor the case in court, those saddled were working within their limitations I suppose, even as we expected a resounding success. The date for the judgement was what took us to prayers mats,we began to see the need to cojoin our lawyers in solidarity, alas we trooped to the court in anxiety, we were gazing in the court, sweating as the opposition gangs appeared to have the verdict already, they had their Christmas clothes on as garment to celebrate , they mobilised the press to celebrate their temporary victory.
In their hundreds they came and in their various homes were newly acquired pdp party flags ready for celebrationgood branded T. shirts they acquired and enough fuel in their few vehicles in some pocket of locations in tens and not in hundreds or millions to move rounds the city that are busy receiving transformations and government attentions to give impression that wild jubilation exist. Law in itself is a product of social engineering which they so want to maximize to give undue colourations that all is well to have a new man as their governor. That is how gullible we are and that is how shallow mindedness we allow nepotism and our uncare attitude to temporarily draft us back as ipinle Omoluabi ...We are again lucky and that each events comes with its grace period and life safing tendencies.
Today we are being forced to regroup and to start meeting, analysing and strategizing on how best to approach Appeal Court and may be to Supreme court. All these in a tussle that require no flexing of muscle for we operate in a friendly environment, touched lives beyond the opposition and perfomed credibly to make them never to surface in government again but we are where we are only because we took many things and too many people for granted.
This is a mere temporary set back, judiciary ambushed that will not stand test of time.
I would like to commend all our party faithful for displaying their commitment and reconvening on this occasion. I would also like to thank the public for their generous support and solidarity in the government of Alh Gboyega Oyetola.
Let our spirits be high......
