Jime vows to sack state workers over Benue election

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State, Emmanuel Jime, has vowed to downsize workforce, if voted.

Jime said that the current number of workers in the state is too large and beyond the capacity of the state.
Benue State is regarded as a civil service state.

The governorship candidate stated this when he featured on Ashi Waves FM Katsina-Ala in the State.
He said the only way any government in the state can cope with regular payment of workers salaries is to reduce the size of the workforce.
Jime disclosed that if voted as governor, his administration will move quickly to address the salary challenge of the state and the first measure will be be to relieve the appointment of workers whom he described as “redundant and not adding any value but only receiving salaries.”

The APC governorship candidate wondered why only one ministry in the state would have even up to 100 staff in a digital age when the computer does most of the jobs previously done by human beings.
He said the state governments under him won’t encourage laziness among civil servants as those without any schedule of work will be asked to leave the service and go into other endeavours of life.
According to him, “The number of workers in the state is much beyond the expectations. No governor will find it easy paying such a large number of workers and at the same time execute capital projects.”
