Delta Not A War Zone - Says PDP Chieftain

Minister of State for Education and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chieftain in Delta State, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, called on the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, not to turn Delta State into a war zone with their inflammatory statements. VP Osinbajo delivers keynote remarks as he declares the conference ope Gbagi, who spoke to Vanguard in an interview, said, “Delta is a PDP state, so I want to advise Oshiomhole whose idea I know it is, to bring the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, to Warri, on Monday, to make inflammatory statements on Saturday polls that he cannot enslave Deltans and they should not turn Delta to a war zone.”

“Even APC people know that their party is not on ground in Delta, they have not been campaigning, so how are they going to win Delta state, how can they come to inflame people that Deltans that they should not allow themselves to be in opposition and that Ogboru must be governor come Saturday, that is not acceptable to Deltans. “Our people (Deltans) must take their destiny into their hands, I have respect for the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, but APC has no leg in our state.

He (Osinbajo) could not win his ward for President Muhammadu Buhari and Oshimohole did not win his state, Edo, for Buhari, why are coming to Delta to tell us how our state should go? If Okowa, who is performing wins, the zoning would have gone full circle by Saturday, why do they want to stop what is working in Delta,” he said. The industrialist said, “The way the Vice President and Oshiomhole spoke about Delta properly keying into the center by going the way of APC relates to allocation and is like a joke to me. Do you allocate a state or you woo them to vote for you.” “It is not an allocation that it has to go to this and go to that, the Vice President did not win his ward and heaven did not fall, so thinking that Delta is a cash cow and they should turn it to a war zone by hook or crook is wrong.

“In fact, they should stop this game of dragging President Buhari into their plan. The people of Delta state will vote and protect their votes with the last breath of their lives, we will not accept intimidation, people coming to impose their will on us or people coming to snatch ballot papers and all of that. “People should not come from their states to dictate what should be done in Delta state, speaking the manner he spoke is as if Delta should be allocated to APC, which should not be, people shold cast their votes and let their votes count,” he added. Gbagi urged Deltans to uphold, on Saturday, the subsisting power formula in the state, which allows the people of Delta North Senatorial district (Anioma) to take their second tenure through Govenor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Commenting on the allegation that PDP was colluding with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agents, he said, “Clearly, Police, Army and INEC are federal it is a case of somebody, who knows that he will defeated because their party is not on the ground trying to use his power to cause confusion.” “They should stop making inciting statements to scare away people, including investors, from the state. They should know that every school child, market woman, bus driver, artisan, low and mighty know that Okowa has done well and it is the turn of Delta North to complete its second tenure. I insist that my brothers and sisters from Delta Central should not allow anybody to fool them,” he added.
