Police Arrests Arm Dealers, Recovers 34,000 Live Cartridges In Ogun


The Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State command has arrested three men that are into arms dealing while thirty four thousand live cartridges were seized.

The three suspects namely Isa Mohammed, 36yr who is a Togolese, Alabi Fayemi, 25yr and Seyi Bamgbose 38yr were arrested yesterday early in the morning at about 1:30am at the border town of Imeko under Imeko Afon local government of Ogun State.

The Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu who was at the police headquarters, Imeko Border Patrol said

“In our avowed commitment to ensure violent free 2019 elections, and in compliance with the directive of the inspector General of Police IGP Ibrahim Idris that all states having border with neibourhood countries should properly Police their border area in order to checkmate the activities of those who might want to perpetrate one crime or the order across the border”

While narrating the ordeal the CP explained that “Our operatives on border patrol led by ACP Shetimma Muhammad while on routine patrol of the border area based on intelligence intercepted a Toyota Dyna mini truck with registration number KSF-254 XX with some cartons neatly concealed therein."

“The mode of the concealment aroused the suspicion of our men consequent upon which the vehicle was searched, 34,000 lives cartridges were discovered in cartons neatly concealed inside the vehicle.”

One of the suspects, Alabi Fayemi said he was believing that he got the driving work but not suspecting the concealment of any goods “I told Issa Mohammad to help me get driver job, he call me for this one. I check safe and engine before I drive, I no know say dem seal something inside the moto”
But Isa Mohammed in his statement got the said vehicle from a man who came to Togo from Nigeria, gave him the vehicle to take to the eastern part of Nigeria. Isa invited Seyi to drive the vehicle because of driver’s license. This led to the arrest of the suspects while on their way at the stop and search Police point.

During the arrest Alabi Fayemi was also arrested. Fayemi told the press that he only joined the vehicle as a means of getting to Abeokuta and was not aware of the ammunition deals which was confirmed by Alabi the driver.

HRM Oba Benjamin Alabi Olanite, Egi Ogboye, Akanku 4th, the Onimeko of Imeko Kingdom was of the notable guests that welcomed the Commissioner of Police to Imeko.

Onimeko of Imeko said his experience today spur him to know more of the selfless service the police render to the nation. “We are ready to call our people including the unions and Associations to desist from such act and should be ready to support the security agencies” .

He charged the people to cooperate by giving relevant information to the police for immediate action.
