The Nigerian Police Force NPF, has revealed to the public the essence of dissolving the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad FSARS.
This was contained in the recent tweets through their official twitter handle @Nigerian Police Force.
The tweet reads: “Decentralisation of SARS is to ensure unity of command and control and in line with democratic and community policing. This is just a tip of the iceberg among very many reforms IGP MA ADAMU mni is bringing in the Force.”
“We are committed to give Nigerians the best security arrangement in the general election with equal playing ground & adequate security for all. As lead agency in internal security, we will work with other security and safety agencies to ensure a safe and secured environment.”
The Force also announced that it set a special squard ahead of the 2019 general election.
“Special Election Investigation Teams (SEIT) is a proactive ad-hoc unit set up by the IGP , it will be disbanded when we are done with elections and all election matters.”
The anti crime force further explained reasons for dissolving the FSARS.
It stated: “Decentralisation of SARS is constitutional, Sec 215 explains this initiative. It will correct every anomaly, bureaucratic bottleneck &bring the Police close to the people. The IGP is committed to this willpower & has directed the command CPs on his policy direction in this regard.”
