GOVERNOR SAMUEL ORTOM CHARGES CHRISTIANS ON UNITY


Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has called on the Church in the State to come together and work to advance its work of evangelism and diverse services to humanity.

Governor Ortom spoke yesterday at the Thanksgiving Service to celebrate the 16th anniversary of the creation of Apa Diocese of Methodist Church, Nigeria held at Archbishop Achigili Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Iga-Okpaya, Apa local government area of Benue State.

Represented by his deputy and a knight of the Church, Sir, Engr Benson Abounu, Governor Ortom said the task of expanding the work of the Lord is a collective one that should be borne by every Christian, explaining that no church can grow untill the parishioners agree to work together to make it grow.

He commended the Apa Diocese of the Methodist Church, Nigeria for its contributions to the educational development of the state and promised to address their request for a grant-in-aid to some of their schools.

The Archbishop of Benue, His Grace, Most Rev. Oliver Aba, who lauded Governor Samuel Ortom and his deputy for their continuous support to the church and the efficient management of the affairs of the state pledged the church support to the government.

In his homily, Bishop, Enone Diocese, Rt. Revd. Daniel Agbese spoke of God’s incomparable grace to man, and  called on Christians all over the country to work together to propagate the work of the Lord.

The chairman of the occasion and Benue State chairman of the PDP, Sir John Ngbede, called on members of the church to rise up to the challenge of expanding the work of the Lord. He commended the Apa diocese for the feats they have achieved since its creation and promised to always support them...

The Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev Peter Ikwulono expressed the appreciation of the Diocese to Governor Ortom, Engr Abounu, Sen. David Mark, and all the guests that attended the event and gave in support of the work of God in the diocese.

Dignitaries that attended the event, among them, former minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, the Head of Service, Mrs Veronica Onyeke, State Commissioners for Finance, David Olofu, and Women Affairs, Salamatu Idi Special Advisers to Governor Ortom, Hon Joseph Odaudu,and Ode Enyi,  member,  Federal House of Representative, Hon. Ademu Ochepo Entonu, APC Federal House of Representative candidate,  Barr Omale  Omale, the Aganwu of Apa/Agatu intermediate Area, Chief Baba Odangla, the Ada Agatu, Chief John Onah and the Odejo K' Apa, Chief John Antenyi gave goodwill messages in support of  the work of the diocese.
