Zone 'A' Senatorial Candidate of the PDP, Gabriel Torwua Suswam today Flagg off campaign at an elaborate rally in Katsina-Ala.
By 10:am this morning, all critical stakeholders and party leaders across seven local government areas from the zone had gathered at the Emmanuel Akume Atongo Stadium to witness the event.
Before his arrival, party supporters had mobilized themselves in various groups and stationed at strategic places wearing printed T-shirts and face-cap to herald arrival of Gabriel Suswam and other PDP candidates into the venue.
At exactly 12 noon, Gabriel Suswam arrived venue of the event in a short convoy amidst fanfare as party supporters gave him standing ovation.
The applause was more thunderous when he stepped down from his convoy and was making to his seat.
Master of Ceremony, Steven Ayua had announced that Gabriel Suswam was accompanied to the venue by House of Reps candidate for Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo, Comrade Richard Gbande, that of Kwande/Ushongo, Bob Tyough and Benedict Kume of Jechira as well as all state assembly candidates of the PDP from zone 'A'.
Zonal chairman of the party, Azua Ashongo, in his welcome speech said the event is to mark formal take off of the 2019 election campaign in Zone 'A' as candidates will be presented with party flags.
Immediately after Ashongo spoke, state chairman of the PDP, Sir John Ngbede mounted the podium and presented party flag to Zone 'A' Senatorial candidate, Gabriel Suswam and other national assembly candidates.
Sir Ngbede who was represented by his deputy, Isaac Mffo charged candidates to quickly move into hinterlands of the zone and woo votes for the party.
He want party faithful to bury all party differences and work as a team for the good of all.
Azer Beke, Orhii Botwev and Mzenda Iho all spoke for Jechira, Kwande and Sankera intermediate areas respectively
While Job Terngohol Tsegha spoke for the youths, Mrs. Magaret Num spoke for the women.
The event reached its peak when Gabriel Suswam and other candidates marched round the arena displaying flags before supporters.
Both Gabriel Suswam and representative of Governor Samuel Ortom are yet to speak as at the time of this report.
