A 45 years old man Adebisi Akinola has been arrested by men of the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for defiling his 15 years old daughter.
Before the arrest, Akinola had been allegedly having carnal knowledge of his daughter for more than three years.
Akinola who confessed to sleeping with his daughter blamed it on the handiwork of the devil.
The daughter who reported the incident to Ministry of Women Affairs who invited the officials of NSCDC said she had earlier reported the case to her paternal aunt, but regretted that no meaningful step was taken to address the problem.
Her words “I once told my aunt about the harassment from him, but she could not do anything about it, instead it got worse.
“I beg you to help warn him not to sleep with me again because I don’t want him to be jailed because of me.”
The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Pedro Awili, said Akinola had been abusing his daughter sexually since she turned 15, in 2015. The girl is 18 presently.
He noted that when the victim could no longer cope with the series of abuse, she ran to the NSCDC for help.
Awilli said “Akinola has confessed to the crime, he agreed that he has been sleeping with his daughter for three years now.
“Likewise his daughter also confirmed the ugly incident in the course of our interrogation which helped us to quickly nab the suspect.”
The commandant said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation was completed.
Awili, condemned high incidents of rape involving minors in the state and warned parents, especially fathers to desist from such act which he described as barbaric, crude and a great offence against God.
