FG Orders All Public Officers In Nigeria To Submit Credentials For Screening

The Secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, has made a directive that all public office holders must submit their credentials for screening in the ongoing nation-wide verification of personnel records.

Mustapha, who stated this on Tuesday, after his own screening, further explained that the directive was part of the implementation of the 2017-2020 Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP).

He said it would enable government to maintain an accurate and up to date data of employees, which would enhance transparency in personnel emolument costs.

Mustapha thereby urged all office holders to participate in the exercise by presenting themselves and their documents for screening.

The exercise which began on Monday, 16th July 2018 with the Federal Ministry of Information, Health, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and Ministry of Defence (MOD) is scheduled to run for two weeks.

From July 23 to 27, it would be the turn of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, Accountant-General of the Federation, State House, Federal Ministry of Environment, Power Works and Housing and others.

The verification exercise is expected to end on August 3.

Last Friday, while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, Winifred Oyo-Ita, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, had announced the verification exercise.

It is understood that the verification exercise will capture 330,820 employees in 486 ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) being paid salaries through the Integrated Pay-roll Personnel Information System (IPPIS) platform.
