*Southwest Reintegration And Unity Depends On Ekiti, Osun Election ~Rotimi Makinde*

The former member of House of Representatives, Honorable Rotimi Makinde who represented Ife Federal constituency in osun state has said Yoruba leaders and members of the two leading political party in Osun and Ekiti State need to unite and work together in order to rescue the region from disintegrating further and to reposition it towards conformity to global trends.

Makinde said this in his home town in Ife on Saturday evening during a visitation to one of the apc stalwarts in Osun State.

While reacting to the question of dwindling chances of Apc in osun state as evidenced in the last bye election.,He said the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke on July 8 was as a result of discord of the party, saying disunity if not checked can offer the opposition party an opportunity to reinvent itself and return to power in the state in 2018.

The ex lawmaker said the All Progressives Congress APC would not be able to make much impact if the party refused to come together to salvage the state from the alleged silent misgivings.

Makinde said, “Osun West bye election showed the way for the PDP to reinvent itself simply because of our party ignoring grievances and bickering .
Meanwhile, while we must not forget that repositioning this region in a more united front to renegotiate our rights from the Federal Government as our priority which of course must be done with every sense of passion regardless of the party differences
In his own remarks,All sitting governors in Southwest must be reasonable in their thinking and put the future of our region into consideration.
There is strength in our coming together. If we go our different ways, we cannot make it.

_“We must all come together to recapture Ekiti State in the fold. The people are looking up to Yoruba leaders to emancipate them from their isolated government and that is why we must come together.”_

There is a need for All states in the Southwest to return to the progressive fold in order to sufficiently becomes fit enough to feature prominently in the regional integration. If there are differences in the political philosophy, it would be difficult to achieve the tasks ahead.

Although, development has one colour .This is a crucial time for us as a people with common heritage to come together and to that successful must start from Ekiti State. It is high time we begin to think about how to reposition our region in a more united front to confront the likely events at the National level. I think at this crucial time,we needs a character who has and exhibits the DNA of the yoruba interest. This is not the time for wild goose chase. It is time for us to have a deeper reflection and think of the person that can best represents the ideals of the region. Such a person must have featured prominently and his historical antecedent should represent and connect with the ideals of the race. Makinde said.
