The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the termination of all cases relating to Ogun PDP members being prosecuted by the Zone 2 command of the force in various courts with immediate effect, while also ordering the retrieval of all the Casefiles for fresh investigations.
The IGP gave the directive following a petition written by some members of the Ogun State PDP Caretaker Committee to the IGP over persistent harrasment of PDP members in the state by some officers of the Zone 2 Police Command.
Liberation Newsline correspondent gathered that a team from the IGP Special Monitoring Unit led by a Senior police officer had arrived the state for investigations and has sent signals to all concerned police officers to immediately discontinue all the cases instituted against these PDP members and also withdraw all the Casefiles. The cases are to be terminated at the next adjourned date.
In the same vein, all the parties including the petitioner, defendants (Bayo Dayo, Segun Seriki, Austin Oniyorkor &co) and all the police officers involved are to report to the force headquarters in Abuja for interrogation.
It will be recalled that some members of the Ogun State PDP have recently suffered police harassment following petitions written by some members of a dissident faction of the party including Senator Buruji Kasamu, Segun Seriki, Bayo Dayo, Austin Oniyorkor and others.
