Governor Samuel Ortom has threw his weight behind this year's Annual International Convention of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, which is expected to hold in Benue State soon.
Playing host to the Local Organizing Committee, LOC, led by its Chairman, Professor Idris Amali today at the Conference Hall of the Benue People's House, Makurdi, Governor Ortom said he would do everything possible to make the event a successful and memorable one.
He said supporting talents is a personal commitment which propelled him to create an office called Knowledge Economy in his administration in order to support creativity. He therefore, approved some funds for the occasion and pledged to assist with accommodation and mobility during the event.
The Governor also revealed that he was aware that notable writers across the country such as Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, Chimamanda Adachie and a host of others would grace the occasion pointing out that their appearances would inspire a lot of Benue indigenes, hence his resolve to support the hosting of the convention.
Earlier in an address, Chairman of the LOC, Professor, Idris Amali who said it was his first time to visit the governor, appreciated his sustained support to ANA events and his generosity towards the acquisition of an ANA secretariat, a development he noted has made all members of the Association very proud.
Other notable members of the delegation were Professor Jerry Agada, Hon. Otse Otokpa, Mr Charles Iornumbe, Mr Igba Ogbole among others.
