The National Assembly recently voted overwhelmingly in favour of Local Government Autonomy. Is that News? Of course, it is not because that is a stale gist. It is an issue that has been paid lip service to, in the last 3 decades.
Otherwise regarded as the closest form of governance to the people, how come Local Governments are not allowed to run independently? Why are Local Governments an extension of the state governments and their bureaucracy? Why are they subordinated to State Governors instead of the people.
