Accident Data Nigeria a road safety campaign project that aims to crowd-source accident data through social media platforms has published its first report on accidents over the last 4 weeks.
They commenced data gathering on 11th July, 2015 and below are some the interesting highlights of the crowd-sourced accident data:

- More accidents were observed on Tuesdays and less on weekends in Lagos
- Third mainland, an 11.8km bridge recorded the highest number of crash over the period
- Accident rate is high on Lagos routes as well as on inter-city routes
- Trucks were the major source of accidents in Lagos with about 34 counts
- Majority of the accidents within Lagos and Inter-city routes occur at day time
- Accidents related to Commercial buses recorded the highest number of injuries, while accidents related to Trucks recorded the highest number of deaths and second highest injuries.
- Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo recorded the highest number of fatalities and injuries on their inter-city routes. It would be of high interest to collect data within the cities
- Men are twice more involved in road accident deaths and injuries than women
