Mr Francis Onyeji, who defiled a 13-year-old at Effurun-Warri, Delta State, has been remanded in Okere Prison, Warri.

gistrates' Court in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, on Monday.
The accused, a father of four and staff member of an indigenous oil services firm in Warri, it will be recalled, was accused of defiling the 13-year-old housemaid.
It will also be recalled that his wife, having discovered the alleged escapade of her husband with the housemaid, inflicted injuries on the body of the housemaid.
Mr Onyeji was, however, arraigned before the Magistrate, Blessing Ideh, on one-count charge of unlawful carnal knowledge/defilement of the teenager.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was consequently ordered remanded in prison till August 25.
"The hearing of this case is being adjourned till August 25 and the police officer is commanded to convey the defendant to the prison and deliver him over to the superintendent thereof, together with the warrant," Ideh ruled.
The police prosecution, Sergeant Enikido Akele, told the court that the accused absconded when the matter was reported by the victim at the Ekpan Police station on July 1.
Akele said the suspect was apprehended on July 28.
He also said the victim was a JSS Two student of Ekpan Basic Secondary School in Uvwie Local Government Area.
The police prosecution said the victim, during interrogation over the bodily harm inflicted on her by wife of the accused, insisted that the accused committed the crime.
"The accused resides in Oghoyoma Onomokpome Street behind Chinkelly Schools and has been on the run when he heard that the police were on his trail," Akele told the court.
He said the offence was punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code Cap C21, Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State.
The victim had earlier informed journalists before the arraignment that the accused started the unlawful act with her since 2013.
She added that the accused, who usually gave her money, warned her never to disclose to his wife or anyone else, otherwise, she would be sent back to the village.
