IN one fell swoop, Governor Rochas Okorocha on Tuesday sacked all chairmen and members of the 27 local council transition committees. He also suspended the chairman and members of the Imo State Civil Service Commission and their counterparts in the House of Assembly Service Commission (IMHASC).
In a statement on Tuesday by his Principal Secretary, Dr. Paschal Obi, which gave no reason for their suspension, Okorocha directed the suspended members of the commission to hand over duties to their permanent secretaries.
Similarly, the sacked chairmen and members of the councils were directed to hand over to the Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS) by Friday.
The Guardian learnt that the council bosses were reappointed a few weeks before Okorocha’s re-election.
There has been no election into council administration since Okorocha became governor of the state five years ago.
