A 33-year-old man, Stephen Itodo has been arraigned before an Oshodi Magistrates’ Court after he was caught raping a mad woman in Lagos State.
He allegedly committed the offence at the victim’s father’s compound located at Alhaji Shehu Close, in the Oshodi area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that he sneaked into a room where the mentally deranged woman was receiving treatment from some traditional healers while everybody was away.
A neighbour became suspicious of the suspect and went to peep into the room only to see Itodo atop the woman.
The neighbour whose identity was not disclosed raised an alarm which led to Itodo’s arrest.
However, during his arraignment, the defendant shocked the court with his claims that the sex escapade with the mad woman was based on mutual consent.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges of rape brought against him in court.
Narrating the disgusting escapade to journalists, a relative of the victim said, “She could not have put up any resistance because of her state.
“If he had admitted and begged, we would have considered settling without involving the police. There is even a doctor’s report, which confirmed that there was penetration.”
The presiding judge, Magistrate Akeem Fashola, granted Itodo bail in the sum of N50,000 and ordered that he be remanded in Kirikiri Prison custody pending on when he meets the conditions for his bail.
